EXECUTIVE DEAN PROFILE As part of the management team of the University and reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) the Executive Dean is a senior leadership role providing inspirational innovative and enterprising academic leadership with a clear responsibility for promoting the quality of research education and enterprise within the respective faculty. He/She will be responsible for ensuring that the faculty achieves the highest academic standards plays a major role in developing relationships with external organisations and supports the achievement of the University s vision and overall objectives. The Executive Dean will be an academic leader who will create a student-centered environment at DUT The Executive Dean will be appointed for a period of five years in the first instance and is responsible for the academic integrity administrative management external engagement financial management and strategic transformational leadership of the respective Faculty. Ideally the Executive Dean is an academic leader an innovator and a facilitator within the faculty. He/She must be a proven leader and a respected senior academic with the ability to act as a champion and spokesperson for the faculty. The Executive Dean will provide research leadership and will be committed to consistently improving the academic standards and outputs of the faculty. The Executive Dean should be able to harness the positive attributes of the faculty for the benefit of the institution as a whole. He/She will play a leading role in transformation and service delivery by responding to the needs of the wider community and being able to respond to the challenges facing higher education both nationally and internationally.
