My client a Multinational Mining Company seeks the skills of an individual who has had a diverse background in training specific to the Mining or Manufacturing Industry that will fulfill the role of Training Programme Manager - Africa. The successful incumbent will be responsible for identifying training needs developing training material and or recruiting suitable training managers for selected areas overseeing all aspects of training. A minimum of 10 years in the mining / manufacturing industries is essential. It is a continental role. Please note that travel within Africa is required for the role. The ideal candidate will be an expert in all training matters with a genuine interest in people ambitious motivated to take complete ownership of the project and drive it. The main responsibilities will include; Implementing programs to enhance the knowledge of employees within the company continentally. The person will work under the oversight of the Head of Human Resource. Implements training strategies within the company The individual determines what resources (physical and human) are needed for a dynamic training program. Needs assessments will be performed by the training manager to determine what should be included or excluded from a training program or module. He / She will also monitor departmental training budgets classroom facilities and equipment used in the training process. Determine if training needs can be accomplished through in-house personnel or establish a contract with outside experts to train employees Features and Job Functions Training program manager will conduct classroom training sessions (seminars workshops and formal lectures) employment orientation sessions and on-the-job training. Other functions will include creating in-house curriculum and training manuals for various branches or departments in the organization for training or reference concerning work tasks or procedures. Required Skills A person in the position of training program manager must be able to communicate verbally with employees co-workers and management. They also must be able to grasp and apply new technologies in training and study different training methods such as distance training via the Internet or computer-based training. Skills are also needed in the area of computer software applications (word processing database and spreadsheet and presentation software). The organization may have a management information systems program that tracks training records of each employee. The training program manager must be willing to learn new computer applications as they are developed and implemented into the strategies of a training division. Education and Salary Educational requirements for a training program manager are a bachelor s degree in human resource development or management. The division is responsible for the IT and Classroom Support Services (CSS) Helpdesks student computer lab management services ICT acquisition and installation service level agreements and communicating with the University community on behalf of ICTS. The CSS team is responsible for audio-visual and ICT (AV/IT) provisioning and support in UCT s centrally-bookable classrooms. Applications are invited for dynamic and motivated people to fill these two-year contract positions in the CSS team. The successful candidates will report directly to the Classroom Support Services Team Leader and will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of the Classroom Support Services onsite function. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Repairing and maintaining existing AV/IT equipment in classrooms Delivering setting up and collecting mobile AV/IT equipment Researching and providing accurate and comprehensive solutions to customers Empowering customers to make more effective use of the ICT services available to them Contributing solutions to the resolution database Providing basic multimedia services and processing multimedia tasks Providing proactive reactive and/or onsite support for lectures and other events taking place in UCT classrooms.
