So how does Pay As You Drive ™ work?
Hollard’s Pay as You Drive car insurance policy works like your cell phone contract. With your phone contract you pay a monthly fee, receive free minutes and pay for any additional calls that you will make.  Pay as you drive divides your premiums into 2 parts.

• A fixed monthly premium which includes a Skytrax tracking device

• A variable monthly insurance premium calculated using your monthly mileage. This starts accruing after you travel above 417kms a month

We calculate the fixed premium based on the normal insurance factors for example your age, where you live, the type of vehicle you drive etc. The variable premium also makes use of the factors above to calculate a cents per kilometer rate. Your monthly premium can be calculated by multiplying the kilometers you travel every month by the cents per kilometer rate, and then adding this amount to the fixed monthly premium. It’s that simple. The insurance premium is capped at 3200 kilometers every month but your mileage is not. This means that even though you may travel over 3200kms a month, you will not pay for any kilometers travelled beyond 3200kms each month.
