HR Options Estimator Main Responsibilities & Duties: The estimator analyses and compiles data on all factors that may influence costs; not limited to labour materials special machinery requirements and location; in order to accurately prepare estimates in the shortest possible time period. The estimator presents professional formal quotes with attention to detail good language and demonstrating a sound practical understanding of the product whilst ensuring consistency in price quotes. Estimating: 1. Receives inquiries via email fax or telephonically. 2. Quotation is then immediately recorded on estimating board. 3. Gathers all the relevant information received from the client (including drawings) 4. Peruse and inspect information and drawings received from client carefully 5. If not sufficient information is given - the Estimator asks client for the additional outstanding information. 6. Follows ISO 9001 procedures when preparing quotation. 7. Starts compiling material list 8. After compilation of material list phones various suppliers for best prices. 9. During this process - the Estimator draws hand sketches of items required by the client and sends to supplier for a quotation (this is in the event that the workshop cannot accommodate or manufacture a special item. 10. Whilst waiting for supplier quotes - compile labour and equipment cost for the particular job. 11. After receiving all information loads onto data input sheet (ensures inclusions and exclusions are accurate before passing onto Data Capturer for capture onto the CDC system. 12. Required to capture all big project jobs onto CDC 13. Pens up quote - check quote after receiving quote from Data capture ensuring 100% accuracy. 14. Timeously complete quotations 15. Oversees and check fellow Estimator s quotations before Data Capture sends it off to the client. 16. Once satisfied with the quotation the quotation is sent to the client and the Estimator awaits a response from the client. 17. Report on submitted quotations done for the previous day - in daily production meetings. Following up on sent quotations: 1. Enquires with Data Capturer for any feedback or responses from the quotations sent. 2. Once client confirms acceptance of quotation and give their go ahead to proceed with the job the Estimator arranges a handover meeting with the Operations Director Workshop Manager QC Buying and Operations. Handover Procedure: Formal hand over of quotes and follow through A) Retrieves quote and ensure all relevant documentation is correct and according to the job specification. B) Ensure all drawings are registered and ensures purchase requisition is complete and correct. C) Arranges a date and time with all relevant parties to execute and discuss the job in its entirety. D) In the handover meeting the Estimator is required to discuss and brief all the parties involved of the full spec and requirements of the jobs and to answer questions received from QC Buyer Project Managers and Operations. Client Relationships: 1. Ensures good communication and relationships with all suppliers clients and internal service departments thereby seek ways to achieve price competitiveness good service an follow up with quotes . 2. Attend site meetings and visiting clients on request- proactively gathers all the relevant information from the client by visiting the relevant sites. Skills/Qualification Required: 1. Engineering diploma or relevant qualification 2. Previous estimating experience (within marine and engineering field) 3. Good understanding of market product and price (engineering industry) 4. Excellent IT skills 5. Knowledge of SAP software system 6. Able to read and analyze drawings 7.
