ROLE PURPOSE To define the Information Technology and Systems strategy for South Africa according to the company / management requirements and Company Group Information Technology and Systems guidelines. To plan direct and manage Information Technology and Systems to ensure the development and implementation of cost-effective information systems and efficient computer operations to meet the current and future technology needs of the company. To be responsible for company wide direction and resources in areas of policy and planning for data processing telecommunications networks etc. To participate in the design and implementation of Company Group IT projects. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES ITS STRATEGY DEFINITION Develops and implements an Information Technology and Systems strategic plan in line with Group / Area guidelines that ensures that data processing IT management systems and related methodologies employed provide the Company / Area with solid effective and efficient systems. Co-ordintates IT strategy implementation for Front/Back-end systems development in S.A. INTERNAL CLIENT MANAGEMENT Understands internal clients requirements and expectations and contributes to identify technical and application solutions in line with the company/corporate IT strategy. Acts as a Business Partner and manage business demands suggests most effective solutions and incorporate them into IT Master Plan. Translates requirements into functional and technical specifications and engages local / central (internal or external) resources to launch specific development projects according to the overall master plan. INFRASTRUCTURE Ensures an appropriate and effective IT infrastructure (computer network etc.) in S.A. by choosing and implementing management systems programming tools and systems products that are both supportive of attainment of area needs and in line with Group standard infrastructure. Manages the size design the service level and the performance of the Information Technology and Systems in S.A. that meets user/customer needs in a proactive responsive and cost effective manner. Plans local infrastructure investments and forecasting technical and economic trends. Establishes unique ICT landscape for all business and operational units across S.A. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT Coordinates the planning and implementation of all project of new IT application including tools and solution selections proposal/contract definition and cost/benefit analysis in line with Group guidelines. Manages Project Portfolio and ensures sufficient resource engagement both internal and external. Ensures compliance of established SAP Back/Front end landscape with countries business demands and legal regulations. Works out and maintains Legacy migration plan to Group solutions. Implements the Group initiatives as regards Systems in S.A. developing all functionality and technological facet. Manages S.A. Information Technology and Systems development establishing priority project deadlines and budget parameters and providing also support to Group implementation. Ensures the development the functionality and the availability of IT assets in order to maintain an adequate system in line with the rest of development areas. Establishes the Application maintenance model for S.A. in accordance with Group standards and ensures sufficient SLA. IT SECURITY Monitors the security of Company data and systems in S.A. assuring the integrity and reliability of computerized information systems and communications systems. Works within the Group standards to develop procedures for control of business systems and to provide systems and data backup recovery and risk management support. Contributes to Development of S.A. business continuation plans for use in the event of power outage weather catastrophes hardware failures and or other disasters and disruptions to the company s information systems and services. IT MARKET ANALYSES Analyses continuously local IT market trends and opportunities in order to recommends new products and services implementation in line with Group IT architecture. Maintains the relationship with IT Community (seminars/congress/workshop) inside and outside Group in order to acquire and exchange information and knowledge. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND SYSTEMS MONITORING Performs and reviews system analysis design programming testing debugging and documentation for S.A. systems. Analyses demands for system applications and proposes the best solutions performing feasibility analyses including all related Program Management tasks. VENDORS NEGOTIATION Defines contracts terms for offering and the overall supply management. Oversees the negotiation with Information Technology and Systems vendors (potential or existing) in order to obtain the most favorable price and quality of products contracts and license agreements. Participates in the vendor selections and the negotiation for the most important contracts. Defines the overall agreements with telecommunication vendors in the assigned area coordinating the supply in order to achieve the best level of quality and services (telephone mobile data network) BUDGET MANAGEMENT Prepares an annual Information Technology and Systems budget for the assigned area and establishes controls to stay within the specified limits of that budget. Monitors costs performance versus budget in the assigned area.
