Requirements Grade 12 and Admitted Attorney 3 years experience in a Financial /legal services and 3 years experience in a complaints handling/consumer protection environment with a legal qualification Competencies Understanding of SA: Legal processes Regulatory environments Consumer rights Credit bureau requirements Analytical skills Consumer Advocate database MS office skills Job Description Resolution of Complaints Analyse complaints received from various sources Input complaint received on Consumer Advocates database Identify issues in respect of the complaint and obtain documents from relevant departments Analyse account (including financial calculations) and documents for any illegalities or unethical practices or errors Determine a finding based on legality and on the grounds for fairness and effect a correction of account where appropriate within mandates or refer to direct manager for approval or further actioning Refer all matters that are outside of the turnaround times to direct manager for resolution Respond in writing to all written complaints and where no mandate for independent written communication exists refer the draft letter to the authorised person for editing Escalate complaints that require further input to the direct manager in the event of the consumer being dissatisfied with the outcome Finalise resolution via telephonic or written response and update database and Exactus with outcomes Attend various meetings/forums where applicable Analyse stats and reports received and provide commentary where requested for submission to the Consumer Advocate Identification of Systematic Issues Identify errors or illegalities on an individual account which appear to emanate from a banking practice or process Refer these with specific examples to the Consumer Advocate or identified person for actioning
