Position Title: Accounts Receivable Clerks Business Unit: Wholesale Department: Finance Reports to: Financial Controller Location: Cape Town South Africa Primary objective/General overview: Provide financial clerical and administrative services to ensure efficiently timely and accurate payment of accounts under their control. Ensure controls and measures are in place to safeguard company s assets Major accountabilities and measurement: Communicating with customers via phone and or email Reconciliation of accounts Posting all receipts discounts and other charge backs to customer accounts timely and accurately Investigate and resolve customer queries Maintain accounts receivable customer files Prepare bank deposits Accountability Key Performance Indicators Communicating with customers Timely payments from customers Reconciliations of accounts Problem solving Posting of all receipts from bank statements and credit card payments Up to date customers account Debtors Invoicing and issuing of credits to clients. Administer general banking duties. Allocating direct deposits. Tracing unknown deposits. Reconcile debtors accounts. Preparation and reconciliation of debtors statements. Reconcile debtors accounts to balance sheet. Follow-up on unpaid debtors. Liaising with customers regarding queries. Handing over problem accounts. Issuing letters of demand. Issuing of statements. Opening of new accounts. Month End reports Sort inventory list into seasons at the end of every quarter. Liase with Assistant Accountant on unallocated receipts reconcile unallocated receipts listing match to compurised system. Review unallocated receipts list and follow-up on long outstanding issues. Reconcile bad debts list. Produce use of provision for bad debts list. Ensure that the sales promotional account has been matched to the seeding summary and reconciled. Manage miscellaneous accounts. Knowledge & Skills required: Knowledge of accounts receivable Knowledge of office administration and procedures Good communication skills Teamwork Problem solving skills Negotiation skills Experience in JD Edwards Accounting system as well as Microsoft Office Formal qualifications/certification required: Required - Grade 12 Preferred Grade 12 Bookkeeping certificate Years of experience required: Must have successfully work in a quality business for at least 3 years Strong experience and success in collections will be highly regarded.
