EE Senior TAX Manager

Please note this is an opportunity for South African citizens (female preferred) A great opportunity exists for a Senior Tax Manager for a corporate telecomms company in JHB to ensure optimal tax benefits for the company by applying sound tax management planning and principles within global and national legislative guidelines Qualifications CA (SA), CIMA, B Proc or BA LLB or equivalent H Dip Tax or equivalent Experience/Criteria Articles at a top 5 audit firm or at a law firm Minimum 5 years of tax experience (post-graduation) Minimum 2 years management experience Knowledge: Detailed knowledge of domestic tax, especially Income Tax and Value Added Tax Understanding of current best practice in terms of designing and implementing structures which optimize the group s tax exposure Macro-Economic understanding Telecomms markets understanding and knowledge Skills / Physical Competencies: High level of computer literacy, including spreadsheet and data analysis on Excel Strong presentation and communication skills, both oral and written Negotiation at all levels Strong inter personal skills Excellent leadership and management skills. Behavioural Qualities: High tolerance towards uncertainty and ambiguity Dedication to get the job done Improvise in unknown situations High level of integrity High tolerance to diverse cultures and changing situations Output and achieving successes orientated Main job function Input into Operational Planning: Input into the section s strategic and business plans Identify and define ways to fine tune procedures and their application in line with changing work practices, providing the context for those interpreting VAT return aspects Recommend changes/ upgrades to the systems that support VAT process Streamline and enhance processes across all SA operations and consider the implications of these actions from a broader perspective Consider the impact of VAT solutions on other areas of the business, as well as the interdependency of units Drive best practice, continuous improvement and innovation at process and procedure level Consider local conditions, as well as competitor activity on VAT aspects if possible Define methods, processes and systems to enhance VAT calculation, reconciliation and recording on returns Evaluate situations and determine the best methods to reach defined outcomes Ensure sound practices regarding VAT and Customs aspect are complied with, taking local conditions into consideration Attend departmental management meetings and provide input where required Develop practical training, and deliver to a broad audience of internal customers/suppliers. Optimise Tax Benefits for all South African Operating Companies: Establish a tax operating model/ ecosystem that prioritizes, plans and executes all daily, weekly, monthly and annual tax activities, processes and transactions Optimise tax planning for the South African Operating companies within the legislative framework Minimise tax risk for the South African Operating companies by pro-actively implementing and driving tax planning Address and resolve escalated tax related queries Liaise with external parties on behalf of the Companies re. tax Negotiate with external parties relating to alignment to tax and SARS requirements that will alleviate the Companies risk. Ensure alignment of and adherence to Group tax guidelines and principles Highlight potential tax risk areas to all relevant stakeholders and provide recommendations to resolve Report on tax status compared to tax planning Ensure compliance by South African Group Companies with SARS administrative requirements, including timely and accurate submissions in respect of Corporate Tax, PAYE, STC, CGT, VAT, etc. Preparation and submission of reports to the Audit Committee of the various South African Operating Companies Attend various Governance Forums eg Capex Committee, Audit Committees as may be required Manage the Tax Risk Forums ensuring that Tax Risks identified are appropriately mitigated Normal Tax: VAT: Review of Monthly tax calculations including Deferred Taxation Review of Tax account reconciliations Review of Tax Returns Review of Provisional Tax returns Advise business units on best way to structure contracts to minimize risks for the company and maximum tax efficiency. Review of Monthly Vat Returns Review of Monthly Vat reconciliations Advisory & Governance Review of contracts for Tax (Vat etc.) impacts Customer Satisfaction (Internal): Align service delivery to changing market segments, legislation and practice based on case law and SARS rulings Understand customer needs and develop and fine-tune systems accordingly Solve all queries escalated by internal customer areas regarding VAT and Customs Ensure customer needs and requirements are satisfied through appropriate systems / processes / procedures Define contingency plans to prevent delays and enhance the customer experience Initiate change and continuously drive improvements as important elements of service delivery. Identify trends / patterns pertaining to customer requests and needs and filter this information to continually improve all aspects of service delivery Quality Management and Improvement: Input into system changes and sound practices in order to comply with best practices, legislation or other regulations/ guidelines Ensure optimisation of ORACLE functionality in order for technology to optimally support and implement correct VAT functionality. Identify and manage processes and procedures where the quality of work may be improved Ensure all strategic plans for the department are implemented within agreed deadlines Ensure proper alignment of the teams KPI s to meet department s objectives A Consultant will be in touch if you are shortlisted for the position. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Create detailed Job descriptions and KPI s for new positions and have it signed off by the manager responsible for the spec/position. Create questionnaires on PNET to score applicants who apply for a position. Full administration of PNET i.e. vacancy categories, questionnaires, talent pool etc Advertise available vacancies on PNET, in the newspaper, Jobmail, Gumtree and OLX to expand the portal. Outsource vacancies to agencies when required and negotiating agency fees Headhunting candidates as and when required. View CV s, make a shortlist of CV s that meet the minimum requirements and send through to the manager recruiting Create a talent pool of candidates suitable for positions not available. Schedule panel interviews and preparing interview packs for the interviewee and interviewer/s. Once the first interview process is complete, final interviews are scheduled with the MD.
