SCOPE The incumbent for this job will be responsible for designing implementing and monitoring the application of company International employee relations strategy. The incumbent will further ensure that the company complies with the legislative requirements within all the countries in which it operates The role requires a seasoned HR Specialist with a proven track record in managing employee relations in African Countries. Operating within the mining industry this individual will work closely with the relevant country management head office management as well as HR personnel. The incumbent for this position will be required to travel to the relevant countries Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Human Resources specialist will be responsible for the following key deliverables within the department: Develop an Employee Relations Framework for the company International Develop and implement Employee Relations policies and procedures for company International Implement Employee relations training and development initiatives to build capacity Negotiate and Monitor union agreements in the relevant countries Drive and oversee all employee relations initiatives within the operational Countries Lead on the employee relations aspects of proposed changes to the business structure Advise and support all parts of the business on employee relations matters to ensure their effective management. Issues include: disciplinary grievances and performance issues. Provides advice with relation to Contracts of employment Terms and conditions of employment and restructuring and workforce planning Establish and co ordinate management/employee/union communication committees to promote a healthy working culture Keep up to date with current ER legislation and ensure this is aligned to company s International Employee Relations policies. Develop a framework for collective bargaining and health and safety/employee well-being Qualification and Experience RelevantUniversitydegree with specialisation in employee Relations At least five years employee relations experience within the manufacturing or mining industry Relevant Bachelor Degree /Employee Relations/Psychology/Change Management Solid understanding of labour legislation BCOE and EE Legislative framework Previous work experience in Africa Experience in the implementation of Employee Relations strategies in SA and other African Countries Experience of planning and delivering employee relations initiatives Strong negotiation and problem solving skills Ability to work at both a strategic and operational level Ability to assess potential problems and make sound judgments around issues that may have an adverse effect on the business from an ER perspective Strong people management skills gained through managing and developing teams Sensitive people skills: a high level of emotional intelligence; excellent interpersonal skills; a wide understanding of people issues Competent computer skills Ability to work well under pressure Ability to demonstrate presence and credibility within the organization Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels Involvement consultation and gaining buy-in on important business decisions English Proficiency Valid driver licence (code 8) and South African Passport Willingness to travel Skills Understanding and Knowledge (Core Competencies) Demonstrate a high level of communication influencing and negotiation skills Demonstrate ability to motivate staff in a challenging environment through team work Patience tact and diplomacy calm under pressure Good team player in a multi-disciplinary team Able to work within the employment equity guidelines line management procedures and company policies Ability to work effectively across departmental and professional boundaries Ability to manage outcomes to deliver to deadlines without compromising performance Self-initiating and managing time effectively being able to identify plan and prioritise own work Demonstrate high level of understanding of cultural diversity Demonstrated interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate effectively with teams Email CV to cynthia hrinteractive.co.za
