University degree (preferably in Communications) or a University degree plus a post-degree certificate in Communications Financial sector experience (minimum five years) Relevant stakeholder relationship management experience Duties: Assist with proactively managing the image and reputation of the short-term insurance industry its industry body (SAIA) as well as the SAIA s members Internal Communications External Communications / Image & Reputation Develop and proactively implement an external communications strategy to strengthen this crucial priority in order to inform correct perceptions of the industry. This should roll out through informed content being initiated developed and implemented by the Communications Manager. Proactively and regularly write source finalise and distribute media releases and other information regarding the industry. The Communications Manager should manage and oversee PR including publications and events. Write all relevant material on behalf of the policies and procedures Promote the image and reputation through writing positively about the association and disseminating it to the media Respond to media queries from journalists and editors Manage and oversee the public relations functions including media conferences and publications Manage the website Twitter Facebook Fan Page and LinkedIn (Social Media) Liaise with key area managers regarding their areas on the website. Ensure that the descriptive content has been proof-read. Manage inputs regarding updates on the web-info from key area managers. Incorporate process into the regular information sharing initiative engagements. o Implement the website for regional platform. 1. Media Relations Create and manage relations between the media. These include magazines newspapers radio digital and TV houses with particular emphasis on the industry media and financial and consumer journalists. Visit and meet journalists and editors of various financial publications on monthly basis Print Media o Elevate the profile of the Communications Manager in the print media industry.
