Head of Audit (Retail) Position based in Pretoria Salary market related A major insurance company requires the expertise and leadership skills of a Head of Audit. Reporting to the Financial Director the Head of Audit will be tasked with leading an audit team building and maintaining stakeholder relationships preparing risk based audit plans and managing the execution of audits among various other responsibilities. Minimum requirements (Don t apply if you do not meet minimum requirements) A tertiary qualification in accounting or auditing At least 6 years of audit experience with 4 years on a managerial level At least 3 to 4 years financial services industry experience with focus on long term insurance either in a business or audit capacity Post-graduate qualification in business science or auditing from an accredited institution CA CIA or CISA qualification Articles completed at an external audit firm especially one of the big four Experience with auditing software preferably TeamMate Driver s license and willingness to travel Objectives and responsibilities Assessing the audit universe and critical risk areas for the business unit to prepare a risk based audit plan and continuously reassessing the audit plan Managing the execution of the risk based audit plan Attending presenting and providing feedback at audit panels and committees Building and managing relationships with management executives and other stakeholders Engaging with the business executive and senior management on each assignment Responsible for audit reports and their quality Implementing and ensuring adherence to quality assurance mechanisms within the audit unit Ensuring audit assignments are executed with the appropriate care and diligence Assessing the risk contained in consulting and ad-hoc assignments Advising the business on operational and risk management processes Preparing and delivering presentations on relevant topics Keeping abreast of developments in the environment Compiling managing and monitoring adherence to the budget Ensuring the optima utilisation of allocated resources Recruiting staff to ensure adequate staff levels Coaching and mentoring team members Promoting and developing team spirit Ensuring the performance management process is followed Like us on Facebook!
