Khetho Recruitment Registered Nurse - MICU PURPOSE OF THE JOB The incumbent Nurse will be responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or group of patients. The RN is responsible for determining and interpreting patients needs. The RN will also plan and execute personalised nursing care plans for individual patient and will accept responsibility for preventative promotive curative and rehabilitative health care. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Registered with SANC as a Registered Nurse Registered with SANC ICU Experience Previous experience in an ICU Strong administrative and organization skills (priorities and work systematically) KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible and accountable for the physical emotional and social care of all the patients. This responsibility also includes your support towards your sub-category nursing staff and domestic staff (cleaning & CSSD). Maintain professional discipline hospital and patient confidentiality. No information is allowed to be given over the telephone. No doctors or staff cell phone numbers to be given out. Patient care must be such that all patient needs are always met and that patients are comfortable pain free happy and satisfied. Ensure good knowledge of CPR be able to apply knowledge and competency in emergency situation know the use of Defibrillator emergency trolley algorithms protocol & Code Blue. Prevent any medical legal risks. Be competent and have a good knowledge of surgical procedures aseptic techniques and principals and theory. Attend and give in-service training and do continue education. Give education advice and information to patients during pre- and post operative visits. Good knowledge of Netcare / Hospital / Ward policies & protocols Nursing Act s & Regulations emergency and evacuation plan as well as the doctors standing protocols. Good knowledge of patient s documentation and how to use them correctly & legally. Good knowledge of writing and reporting incidents handling of scheduled medicine & books and Student s documentation. Good knowledge of clinical & documentation audit procedure and quality improvement program. Ensure economical use of stock and equipment by preventing wastage. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Key responsibilities include the following but not limited to: Plan menus with the dietician for patients and staff to make sure that meals are nutritious diverse and attractive Direct and control the purchasing preparation and presentation of food for the wards doctors and staff Supervise staff and food production Make sure that food service areas are properly equipped kept in good working order and meet strict occupational health and safety standards Manage the catering for hospital functions as well as other functions Arrange the purchase of special foods required by dieticians who look after the needs of patients requiring special diets Advice on staffing issues including recruitment discipline performance appraisal and enterprise bargaining Carry out staff training Manage all catering services to the satisfaction of patients and internal clients Responsible for the control of stock issues and ensuring that there is enough stock for production Counsel and advise catering staff on personal and working circumstances Make sure that standards of service are maintained at all times Responsible for smooth running of daily shifts QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Diploma in Food Services Management / Hotel Management or a similar qualification A minimum of 2 - 3 years management experience in a similar role A detailed understanding of financial and business management principles 2 MANAGERIAL COMPETENCIES: Aligning performance for success: Collaboratively work with direct reports to set meaningful performance goals establish an approach to achieve set objectives and create a learning environment.
