Public Relations Intern

M-Net Local Interest Division seeks to appoint an Employment Equity individual that is passionate about Public Relations and the television industry in the role of Publicity Relations Intern. This person will report to the Publicity Manager: Local Interest and will be based at our offices in Randburg. CONTEXT External factors which will influence the work environment taking future conditions and strategic requirements into account: Lucrative TV business environment Media Landscape Highly competitive environment M-Net policies & procedures CUSTOMERS External individuals or groups as well as individuals or groups within the organisation to whom products services programme and information is provided. Viewers M-Net Business units DSTV Media Sales Media houses and publications External service providers Sponsors and stakeholders OUTPUTS Services and information which the individual must provide to external individuals or groups or one another to accomplish the organisation s mission and strategy. Communicate with internal and external stakeholders Planning and writing creative Press Releases Communicate schedule changes with media Pitch interesting story angels to media Assist with media management at all events and promotions Generate guestlists invite media and manage RSVP s Maintaining and building media relationships Ongoing media liaison with regards to media requests Assisting on various station promotions with regards to the PR element Ongoing monitoring of all media Attend Meetings Work closely with PR and Marketing Executives and PR Manager Archive and maintain archive of all projects Ensure that content (visuals and materials) and media requirements are met within set deadlines Oversee social media publicity function COMPETENCIES Personal capabilities which are critical to the production of quality outputs are: Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Relationship Building Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Good co-ordination and administrative skills Attention to detail Willingness to travel and work irregular hours Action oriented Decision Making Creative Planning and Organising Prioritising KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATIONS Must have a degree or diploma Journalism/ Communications Computer literacy -Windows MS Office packages Passionate about Public Relations Knowledge of and passion for the television and entertainment industries Passion for Local Content
