DataFin Recruitment Senior Network Planning Specialist ENVIRONMENT: Our client based in Johannesburg is looking for a Senior Network Planning Specialist DUTIES: To plan build and maintain a reliable cost effective and innovative transmission network that meets the demands of company s business within the relevant region. To Co-ordinate projects. To evaluate and implement new technology. To optimise the transmission network. To generate reports on transmission network. To provide high level support on transmission network. To ensure that projects are executed timeously and within the required SLA. Manage Regional teams. To ensure network targets are met. Draft: Method and procedure documents for basic planning principals (Civil and Fibre Network layout). Draft: Methods and procedure documents for Naming and Labelling of the company s OSP Network. Capture record historical and new Network infrastructure. Maintain internal inventory data systems. Maintain internal Network system (records). Drawing up of Logical Fibre Optic master plans maintain GIS data spatial maps convert as build data into usable records for planning purposes. Support regions with master records data (Complete Network view per region). Attend meetings with different regions (wrt to new planning - Network records). Attend sales meetings to indicate where network infrastructure (Fibre and equipment is available). Assist sales to plot and Identify business locations (GIS mapping). Quality checks for data received from suppliers (Contractors). Analysis of Fibre network and capacity (Civil network and Fibre cables). Managing staff. Outputs Planned Transmission Network. Assessed desktop study on new requests. Surveyed feedback on new requests. Built transmission orders and services. Support Transmission Network. Maintained Transmission Network. Generate Reports. Co-ordinate projects with all stakeholders. Evaluate & implement new technology. Liaise with Business Units. Contractor management. Management of GIS data as well as EBU planning. Management of regional staff. Provide support. Responsible for overall high-level design and strategy of the access network in co-ordination with the company s EBU Planning. Compilation of guidelines and methods for the choice of technology to be used to access the prospective customer and a costing baseline to assist with quotes. Understanding the overall network and setting of priorities in order to evolve the network into an organized structure with both short term cost and speed of installation in mind but also the longer term strategy of how the network should be structured. Assistance and guidance to the Planner / Project Manager resources in Gauteng South and Northern regions. In order to simplify the regional planners / project manager s tasks it is important to specify a set of options and methods for use in each region. This will be one of the main tasks of the Central Design Engineer. This standardization must fit in with both the short term and long term goals of the network making the regional planner / PM task simpler but encompassing the strategic goals of how the network should be structured. Assistance and Guidance to Project Managers in the Regions country-wide in a similar fashion to the above described for the SGA/NGA regional resources. Planning and participation in aspects such as Network Management and Monitoring integration with the company s Transmission Network capacity issues strategy for network expansion and introduction of new technologies / vendors into the solution set. The vital input to this process is the information concerning the existing infrastructure. This will be required from and will be compiled and collected into a database by the Central Design Engineer in order to put together a picture of how the network looks now including Fibre point-to-point and point-to-multipoint radio technologies. This will then be used as the baseline from which good strategic technical decisions can be made about how to use the existing infrastructure optimally and how to expand. Metro Ethernet PON FTTx. Routing and Switching. Microwave transmission systems and link planning SIAE NERA Hughes. Optic Fibre transmission systems Tellabs 7300 8800 7100. Satellite transmission systems and link planning. GPS Synchronisation Equipment i.e. DCD Time source & 1588v2. Telecommunication Industry. GSM Network. Information Technology. Assist in compiling and managing transmission NOE and CAPEX budgets. Test Equipment. MapInfo. Atoll. Google Earth.
